Tracy Cultural Arts Division Issues Call For Grand Gallery Exhibitors

Tracy, Calif. - The City of Tracy Cultural Arts Division is seeking proposals from artists, curators and collection lenders for its Grand Gallery, a contemporary, municipal visual arts space located in the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts in Tracy, Calif., near the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, Calif. The 37,000 square foot Center, an interdisciplinary arts facility containing two theaters and nine studio classrooms in addition to the fine arts gallery, will open in September 2007.

Proposals are open to all media including installation, new media and performance art. Work must have been completed in the past three years unless part of a thematic grouping or historical collection.  There are no geographic restrictions.

Artists may also submit proposals for new works, providing samples of representative work. As the Gallery is part of a larger interdisciplinary arts center fostering community involvement and lifelong learning, demonstration, residency, outreach, and workshop options are encouraged.

"This is an excellent opportunity to exhibit during the inaugural year of a stunning new arts center that's unique in the region," says Grand Gallery Supervisor William Wilson. "The interdisciplinary nature of the Center allows for interesting and timely cross-collaborative programming that is deeper in content and audience impact than traditional arts spaces allow."

All materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. PST on Friday, June 1, 2007 to be eligible for 2007-2008 review. Proposals will be reviewed by the Grand Gallery Advisory Committee and recommended for exhibition opportunities. Those granted exhibitions will receive a pro-rated honorarium based on experience and geographic location.  Negotiable funding is also available for accommodations, return shipping, travel and special needs.

For questions and a submission guidelines worksheet, interested persons may contact Mr. William F. Wilson II, Gallery Supervisor, at 209-831-5050 or william.wilson@ci.tracy.ca.us.
