Ushers and docents provide a valuable service to the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts and we are grateful to our dedicated volunteers. Positions are available throughout the year for volunteer ushers and docents. For information on volunteering, contact the Box Office at 209.831.6TKT (6858).

Volunteer Usher:
- Age - Minimum 16
- Skills - Good verbal communication, positive attitude, ability to stand for at least two (2) hours, ability to read tickets and be very dependable.
- Time commitment is based on volunteer availability and Center needs. Shows will typically be Thursday through Sunday; however, shows may be booked any day of the week.
- Attendance at training meetings is required.
- Ushers will need to provide their own uniform of white shirt, black pants and comfortable black shoes. Red vests and nametags will be provided.
- Ushers must be well groomed.
Volunteer Docent:
- Age - Minimum 16
- Skills - Excellent speaking skills to lead tours and answers questions, ability to learn history and facts about the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts. Tour guides must stand for at least 1.5 hours and climb stairs.
- Time commitment will based on volunteer availability and Center needs. We anticipate having one tour per week and special tours as scheduled through the Box Office. Tours will require approximately a two-hour time commitment .
- Scripts, maps and training will be provided.
- Docents must be well groomed.
Volunteer Assistant:
Gallery Volunteer & Internship Program
Volunteers and Interns are needed to work in the Exhibitions Program of the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts. Opportunities are project-based including the areas of community outreach, exhibition development & design, patronage, promotions & public events, and research. All Volunteers and Interns will be trained in general gallery practices to establish a skill set applicable for work in arts organizations, galleries and museums.
Arts Education
Volunteers and Interns are needed to work in the Arts Education Program of the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts. Opportunities are project-based including the areas of community outreach, activity coordination & development, patronage, promotions & public events, and research. All Volunteers and Interns will be trained in general arts education practices to establish a skill set applicable for work in arts organizations and museums.
